When I think of Anaheim, California, I think back to “D2: The Mighty Ducks.” In this 1994 movie, the Ducks go to Anaheim to play in the Goodwill Games, and after much difficulty, they beat out Team Iceland in a sudden death shoot-out. What a great movie!
In all seriousness, Anaheim is a popular travel destination for many people. Located just outside of Los Angeles, Anaheim is home to the large Anaheim Convention Center, Disneyland, and Angel Stadium, among other popular attractions.
My youngest sister currently lives in the area while she’s attending pharmacy school. This past August, I visited her for a couple of days as I traveled home from Sydney, but jet lag prevented me from seeing too much. I’d love to visit her again and check a few of these attractions off my list.

You’re never too old to enjoy the fantasy of Disneyland. With Disneyland, Disney California Adventure, and Disney Resort all in Anaheim, I’d love to discover some thrilling rides and hug a few of my favorite characters. Since the traffic in Southern California can leave you stranded for hours on the freeway, I’d opt to stay at an IHG hotel near the Anaheim Convention Center, which is directly across from Disney California Adventure.
Catch a Game at Angel Stadium

Baseball is one of America’s favorite pastimes. Surprisingly, I’ve never seen a Major League Baseball game before. I’d love to change that by seeing the Los Angeles Angels play at Angel Stadium. It would be even better if they played against the Red Sox. Go Sox!
Watch the Ducks Play at the Honda Center
The Anaheim Ducks team was founded by the Walt Disney Company and named after the Mighty Ducks from one of my favorite movies. While I might not see these Ducks do the “Flying V” down the ice, the Anaheim Ducks have had a successful run with multiple Pacific Division titles and even a Stanley Cup win.
Dine at the Anaheim Packing District

Located only six minutes from the Anaheim Convention Center, the new Anaheim Packing District is a community gathering place with more than 20 small restaurants and shops. Food options range from crêpe stands to steakhouses to pubs. I’d love to grab breakfast at the Crêpe Coop and end my night at the Anaheim Brewery. There’s even live music every weekend!
Discover the Best Museums in Orange County
Orange County is home to an array of incredible museums. The Browers Museum in nearby Santa Ana is one of Southern California’s finest museums. It hosts exhibits from around the world and has its own amazing collection of Native American and pre-Columbian art. If time allows, I’d love to visit the Battleship USS Iowa and City National Grove of Anaheim.
Los Angeles may have all the glitz and glam of Hollywood, but there’s real fun to discover in Anaheim. Home to Disneyland and several major sports teams, this vibrant Southern California city definitely lots to do.
