It doesn’t get more all-American than the city of Arlington, Texas. Home to General Motors, Six Flags, the Texas Rangers, and the Dallas Cowboys, Arlington is known as the American Dream City. This small city of nearly 400,000 residents is home to diverse neighborhoods with world-class educational institutions, iconic sports venues, and heaps of fun stuff to do only 20 miles from downtown Dallas.

Arlington is home to some of Texas’ greatest attractions. If you’re a thrill seeker who loves to test the strength of your stomach, then you must hit up the 12 roller coasters at Six Flags Over Texas. Don’t miss the Texas Giant, the tallest hybrid roller coaster in the world!

If you’d prefer to keep your feet on the ground, there are plenty of things for you to do in Arlington, too. Take in a Dallas Cowboys game at the AT&T Stadium or a Texas Rangers game at Globe Life Park. You can also discover 5,000 years of bowling history at the Bowling Museum & Hall of Fame.

The Arlington Museum of Art is dedicated to providing cultural enrichment with its hundreds of beautiful pieces of art from around the globe. The museum is home to an extensive collection of Texas Contemporary Art. After a morning of art, head to River Legacy Parks, a 1,300-acre urban oasis where you can hike, kayak, or picnic in the great outdoors.

Arlington is home to hundreds of chain restaurants, but if you’re looking for something unique, Arlington has that, too. You can’t go to Texas without eating some delicious fried chicken. Babe’s Chicken Dinner House is one of the best fried chicken joints in all of Texas. Dino’s Subs cuts the meat to order for its great sandwiches. And don’t miss the yummy pho at Pho Hung.

Where to Drink in Arlington

As a major sports town, Arlington is filled with classic sports bars and pubs. If you can’t make the big game in person, you can check it on the big screen at Blaze’s Sports Grill. Wash down the famous 12-hour smoked brisket nachos with a pint of beer at Maverick’s Bar & Grill. If you’re a craft beer aficionado, then Hooligan’s Pub is the place to be. This spot regularly features new brews, and you can even take home the pint glass afterward.
